'I am directed by the Board of Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th instant, forwarding a Copy of a Despatch 2835 from the Officer Administering the Government of Hong Kong inclosing a Copy of a claim on this Office from the Members of the Marine Court of Inquiry at Hong Kong for remuneration for their Services in the case of the British Emigration Ship "Pride of the Ganges" -
In reply I am to acquaint you for the information of Secretary Cardwell that this Board have no funds at their disposal out of which to remunerate the Members of a Colonial Court of Inquiry, as the Mercantile Marine Fund is not applicable to the payment
